Calliope Crawley

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Calliope Crawley is the only child of Randall Crawley (1970 - 1999) the front man for the rock band Perch, and actress Carmen Fisher (b. 1977).

Early Life and Family

Crawley was born December 31, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was named after the Greek muse of epic poetry.

According to Randall Crawley, “Heart”, the opening track and lead single from Perch’s 1998 album Odyssey is about the birth of his daughter. The song reached number seven on the Billboard Top 100. Crawley has a heart-shaped birthmark on her back and shortly after her birth, Randall Crawley got a heart tattoo in the same place in her honor. Crawley and her mother, Carmen Fisher, had joined her father on tour in Europe two days before he died from a deadly combination of drugs and alcohol. It is not known when Crawley last saw her father. After the death of her father, Crawley was typically only seen in public alongside Fisher. When Crawley was eleven years old she attended the Hollywood premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with her mother. Crawley is not known to have attended any other Hollywood events after that.

Personal Life

Between the ages of five and twelve years old, Crawley was frequently put in the care of relatives while her mother Carmen Fisher battled her own drug addiction. Following Fisher’s arrest on drug-related charges in April 2008, Crawley was placed in the temporary care of her godparents Jack Hayward, former bassist for Perch, and his wife Melissa.

Crawley has been the subject of numerous tabloid articles, but Crawley has only given one official interview. In June 2009, thirteen-year-old Crawley spoke to magazine about the ten-year anniversary of her father’s death. In it she revealed she has no memory of her late father, and claimed she no longer listens to his music. “There’s no reason people should think I have anything interesting to say about him. I don’t remember him. I don’t even listen to his music anymore. I wish everyone would stop asking me.” When asked about her reportedly rocky relationship with her mother, she refused to give any details. “It’s nobody’s business.” Crawley refused to take part in a photo shoot for the interview, which took place few months before she disappeared from the public eye. Carmen Fisher lost custody of Crawley in September 2009, but it is not known who obtained custody of Crawley as all documents relating to Crawley’s new legal guardians were sealed to protect her privacy.

Crawley inherited her late father’s estate, the publishing rights to his solo music catalogue, and a majority share of Perch’s publishing rights on December 31, 2013, her eighteenth birthday, and has a reported net worth of $140 million. According to WhereIsCalliope.com, a website dedicated to Crawley and discussing theories on her current location, in 2014, Crawley reportedly tried to block the planned release of the 25th anniversary edition of Perch’s debut album, Lake Effect, but Jack Hayward and former Perch drummer Rex Cobb both deny this, and the album is due for release May 2016. An unreleased Randall Crawley solo album is also rumored to exist, but neither Hayward nor Cobb claim to have any knowledge of it.

Disappearance

Crawley and Fisher reportedly became estranged while Fisher was in and out of rehab during the summer and fall 2009. Crawley’s disappearance still fosters intrigue today. In 2014, she topped the Buzzfeed list “15 Celebrities Who Have Ditched Fame” and has appeared in similar lists on other pop culture websites. Carmen Fisher has since refused to talk about her daughter. However, various Twitter posts by Fisher suggest she and Crawley are still estranged.
